The description of this delectable squid in ink will be left to our number one customer who says, "It's like the legendary Kraken started a line of barbecue sauce made from his blood, sweat, and tears. I'm sold." How often does one have the opportunity to savor the flavor of a mythical sea-beast? You must try it now.

The New York Times Wirecutter Top Choice for Tinned Squid

"Donostia Foods Squid in Ink was our favorite among several squid-in-ink varieties we tried. It was the sauce that really won us over: Made from a blend of squid ink, tomatoes, and spices, it’s thick and savory, dotted with little pools of reddish oil. Tasters differed on what exactly it reminded them of—hoisin, coq au vin, and braised oxtail with star anise all came up—but meaty, hearty, and comforting was the theme." - New York Times Wirecutter

Donostia Foods Squid in Ink (calamares en tinta) is produced in Galicia in northwest Spain. Tender squid pieces in a sauce of squid ink, tomato, and spices. Serve atop rice or pasta, or along with crusty bread.

"This *may* be the most special of all the Donostia Foods tinned seafood in terms of texture, flavor, and quality; it resembles no other tinned fish on the market that I know of. Just wow. The squid is plump and meaty; the sauce a velvety enigma that checks off all five established tastes and leaves you wondering if you maybe just discovered a new one. Try swirling this into pasta with lots of lemon, garlic, and wilted arugula, or layer it on a torta with aioli, pickled red onion, crumbled white cheese, and shredded lettuce." - NQ.

If that description doesn't convince you to at least give this a try, I don't know what will.

"The squid is super tender. The ink needs to be captured on a cracker or a spoon. Don't lose this unique delight! Donostia has this market cornered!"

Elevate your rice and beans game

"I had some leftover black beans and rice in the fridge, and remembered I still had one tin of squid in ink and thought why not. I sautéed some frozen shrimp to add more protein to the dish, which I seasoned with a little old bay. Then dumped rice, beans and the squid with its ink, mixed it all good until the rice absorbed the sauce. Ready in less than 10 minutes and absolutely delicious."
