One ounce tin of saffron threads, imported from Spain. Guaranteed 100% saffron according to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines. Over 3,000 saffron crocus flowers are hand picked for each ounce of spice. During the monda or esbrinar portion of harvesting the stigma of the flower, a deep red thread, is removed, toasted, and dried to conserve the saffron's distinct aroma and flavor.

"My new favorite secret weapon er, spice. First time I've bought and used saffron and it took my yellow lentil soup to the next level. I knew Donostia would come through. Can't wait to toss these threads around even more. A pinch or two goes a long way. 1 oz. tin is the way to go." - MadMex, who is, in fact, quite sane

Just $4.99 per gram (28 grams per tin), each tin contains a resealable pouch to maintain freshness.

Genuine Saffron (MUCH better than spice store stuff)

"Since saffron is such a valuable commodity, there are tons of cheaper imitations. The stuff you buy at the local spice store/asian market looks the same as this but there is no comparison. As soon as you open the tin, the aroma of this saffron permeates the room. Some of the imitations have the "select quality", do not be fooled. Once you have the real product, side-by-side, it's a night and day difference. And having a full ounce seems excessive but it lasts many months and since you do feel compelled to "skimp" like you do when you only buy a gram, you tend to use the right amount and the dishes benefit tremendously. Friends come over to have my risotto because of this stuff."

"Really fantastic quality and a great value! My “real” chicken stock was incredibly enhanced by allowing sufficient time for several grams of this saffron to melt into the broth. The resulting Paella was incredible. The paella was started on stovetop and finished on a mesquite live fuel grille."
